Comments: My tendon transfer surgery was a difficult one, due to significant atrophy of shoulder muscle. There was not much there to work with, and donor tendon tissue had to be incorporated. Surgery took much longer than originally anticipated, and Dr. Gilotra was very up-front about the possibility of a difficult recovery and likelihood of having to follow up with complete shoulder replacement. But the surgery was apparently a perfect one, and recovery was surprisingly smooth. I was able to commence with PT after just a few months, and now, 8 months after surgery I have 95 percent of the strength and range of motion I had at age 40 (I am now 69), and as I continue PT on my own, am still working my way to 100 percent. I not only credit Dr. Gilotra with his amazing surgical ability, but also my excellent physical therapist, Dr. Yves Joseph, at YMotion Pysical Therapy. His extensive anatomical knowledge combined with insightful intuition and genuine interest in the development of every single client under his care was the perfect complement to an excellent surgery. Dr. Gilotra predicted around a 75 percent restoration of my shoulder, but Dr. Joseph pushed it to where I am now. His website address is ymotionpt.com. I highly recommend both doctors.
